304 Banner.png

“If you ever want to be anything great, if you ever want to serve a life of purpose then you must first walk through the valley of darkness. Through the pain and suffering, it gives you a deeper meaning in yourself.”

Discipline.

We all need it in every aspect of our lives. Today’s guest has mastered it and he delivers a wealth of life experience, knowledge, and wisdom that will inspire you to do the same. Tu Lam came to the United States as a Vietnamese refugee when he was eight years old. Born in to wartime Vietnam under threat by the Communist north, his family eventually escaped by boat only to face pirates, starvation, and finally racism from Americans who were struggling with the United States involvement in the Vietnam war. But before he was even a teenager, he was exposed to the way of Budo; the Way of the Samurai. It would prove to be a way to face the darkness and set him on a path to become a warrior, and ultimately to find compassion, peace, and forgiveness.

Tu Lam served in the the United States Army for 23 years in the infantry, reconnaissance unit, special forces unit, combat search and rescue, combative, and special reconnaissance unit. After retirement he created Ronin Tactics, where draws on his experience and influences to train law enforcement officers and civilians how to survive.

Expert action steps

  • Choose a mindset that’s going to set you up for success. Decide what kind of person you want to be based on the goals you want to achieve.
