EP458: Joe Wang - Don't Just Chase Money, Follow Your Heart

“For the Epoch Times and NTD, what we have been doing, is although we keep an eye on the profit, we always follow the heart. That’s when you know you’re doing the right thing. And that’s when you know that when you actually go through difficulties, you’ll always have a likeminded team to fight with you and go through the difficulty with you, and there will be light at the end of the tunnel….That’s our best business model, because if we can speak truth, we can always find the audience. And we have peace of mind in our hearts an the business is solid because of that.”

Heart leadership is the most powerful and sustainable business model. The Epoch Times and NTDTV (New Tang Dynasty Television) are setting a prime example of how leading your business with heart not only changes the world, but also creates a solid foundation for your business and profits to grow. It’s really such a simple principle that only calls on us to actively care about others.

Joe Wang has seen the extreme opposite of heart leadership, growing up in communist China under the control of the Chinese Communist Party. On the surface, events like Mao Zedong’s Great Leap Forward painted a picture of a powerful government that had the people’s best interests at heart. But Joe’s family and many others saw a very different view as millions died from hunger and disease. Motivated by these events, Joe worked hard to establish a career in the vaccine industry, eventually landing in Canada at the largest vaccine company of its time, Sanofi. After 10 years in the industry, it was clear that the structure of that business model was leaning more toward profits than people. During this time, Joe also began practicing Falun Gong (aka Falun Dafa), a meditation practice originating in China that brought health benefits to people and a higher quality of life. It became extremely popular in China in only a few years but in 1997, the CCP started persecuting millions of Falun Gong practitioners. These events inspired Joe to begin a new career in media, helping establish what would become NTDTV and The Epoch Times, so that people throughout the world would be informed of the critical facts that should be available in a free society without interference from corruption.

Joe is now the CEO of NTDTV Canada and a columnist for the Epoch Times.

You can read Joe’s contributions to The Epoch Times at EpochTimes.com. Search for Joe Wang and you’ll find several columns that he’s written.

EP456: Raymond Aaron - How To Thrive During A Recession

“Nobody had money, nobody could pay for rent. The stock market fell by 90%. It was insane. But, something happened. The 30 most important stocks in America… almost half of them started during the recession! Why? Is it just a coincidence? I doubt it.”

“In the last 12 months, more opportunities to be of service to people have become available than ever before.”

The great depression has already shown us that opportunities are born in crisis. When times are normal, everything stays the same. But when things go through a giant change, everything shifts. Giant holes open up and entrepreneurs can step up to be of service by filling those holes.

During these recent times of worldwide crisis, one service that has had a major impact on the entrepreneur's ability to grow their business is podcasting. Podcasting statistics have exploded since the beginning of the pandemic and lockdown. The growth is astounding. But entrepreneurs don’t have to become podcasters themselves, they can focus on becoming an expert podcast guest.

Raymond and Nicky are creating an event to show you how you can increase your income by 6 figures through podcast guesting. The two day event will show you step by step how to become a sought after podcast guest. You’ll learn how to prepare your messaging to generate relationships, solve problems for people, and generate six figure sales.

Stay tuned for more information on the 2 day podcast guesting event. You can also get updates on the event from Raymond’s podcast, Respark Your Life.

We’re in a recession but it’s up to you whether you see that as a barrier to your business or an opportunity for growth. History has given us many examples of companies that were made by crisis. People need help during hard times and that’s your opportunity to be of service.

EP454: Taylor Blom - How To Build A Multimillion Dollar Purpose Driven Business

“…empower impact driven entrepreneurs to grow successful businesses with excellence and change the world.”

“From the beginning we believed in people. Specifically in partnership. We wanted to share the wins, we wanted to share the growth and equity and value overtime with individuals as we grew.”

Taylor Blom started as a real estate photographer. His business at the time, Front Door Photos, hit a pain point for his clients; to publish attractive listings quickly, faster than anyone else, working directly with local talent. The business model worked well and he decided to expand into other markets under the name ‘Next Door Photos’ which has been growing for the last seven years. He chose local market managers over franchising to take advantage of the benefits of partnership and being able to tap into the communities Next Door Photos serves. Today, Next Door Photos has 50 local owner/operators and serves almost 70 markets in the US and Canada.

Next Door Photos is also an organization to that gives meaningful work to people who have been rescued from human trafficking or extreme poverty. Hundreds of lives in the Philippines, Nepal, and Kenya are being impacted today.

Expert action steps:

  1. Don’t do it alone. Find a community, find encouragement, find people who are passionate about whatever idea you’re pursuing.

  2. Evaluate your career and life, looking for ways that you can make additional impact. This doesn’t have to be complicated. Small changes can make a big impact.

  3. You’re only going to go as far as your health is going to allow. You can change many things in your life when you’re well rested and healthy.

If you’re interested in becoming Next Door Photos partner, go to NextDoorPhotos.com and click on the ‘Ownership’ tab.

“Chance favours the prepared mind” - Louis Pasteur

“Trust that whatever you’re doing is setting you up to do something down the road that you can’t anticipate. That moment will come and you’ll realize that because I embraced and learned everything that I could 5 years ago… 10 years ago... it’s now a tool in my tool box, it’s part of me.”

EP451: TL Nuggets #100 - Keep Your Word

“There was a time when they said a man’s word was his bond. That if you gave your word, that was it, it would be kept. That time was long, long ago.”

“When you give your word and you keep it, you lay a brick in the foundation of your faith, trust and belief in yourself.”

Today’s topic is one of the most simple and yet one of the most powerful. Take this principle with you everywhere, everyday and you're guaranteed success in your personal and business life.

EP450: Larry Wilson - How Show Business Can make You A Genius Level Communicator

“I personally derive enormous satisfaction from passing essentially what is my life’s work to people who are serious about making their lives better.”

“It doesn’t matter how brilliant you are. If you can’t transmit those ideas, it’s like winking at a girl in the dark. Nothing happens. - Warren Buffet

Effective communication will dramatically improve your relationship with clients, prospects, friends, and family. As today’s guest said, “Everything worth having begins with communication”. But of course many people aren’t confident in their commutation skills. Larry Wilson believes communication can be taught as a technique because techniques are transferable. Through teaching and repetition, anyone can learn a technique, including communication.

Larry Wilson is an Emmy nominated, award winning comedy magician who spent 35 years working with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. He once met a MIT professor who recognized that Larry had excellent communication skills. After hiring him to teach communication to grad students at MIT he encouraged him to consider offering his technique more broadly. So Larry developed the Wilson Method, a crystallization of his experience in show business that can be transferred to anyone who’s serious about improving their lives.

Larry has a weekly podcast called How To Talk To Humans.
